Into Great Silence

There's a sound of a bell that chimes in the morning's boon
Where all hear it alike
Praying in corners they open their eyes.
There's a light of a lunar glow reflecting off the snow.
They watch it from their perch
Above the valley's life from which they shield their eyes.
"How can I stay? With all these words in my way?"
On the path where the river flows downward, he descends.
"I've got the words to give you light. You've got the way. The morning's light."

Afterglow
04:31
|
|

Draw the shades down, let the world have its own
Be a milestone, but for only the absolute truth
And keep your eyes on us, let's figure it out
Let every moment last as far as its most afterglow
Go! You're all alight
Iridescent and made like a spark
But where and when you go
I'll bring it all back to your door.

Love Cadaver
03:07

|

Let's get up before the dawn
There's so much that we need to do
I've been dreaming about the same things for years now, and I'm tired of lying awake.
Outside something's paused - the willow trees or the great fog.
Do you remember the poetry you used to write when you thought that we would stay gold.
Where do you go in the afternoons?
Why do you leave without saying goodbye?
This is my favourite time of day.
Where nothing ends and nothing stays.
The land bores out of the fading mist, but I know, I know it's just a metaphor.
'Cause I live in this home - the chipped paint and the salt-stained floors
The broken clock and the clouded windows
And the doors that haven't opened in years.
Where do you go in the afternoons?
Why do you leave without saying goodbye?

Said the Afternoon
03:49

|

It's a long way to go
Crossing the fake terrain
It's a long way to go
For me
I'm your friend
I don't know why
I never feel the same way as you
It's a long way to go
Just to get what we need
But cover your eyes with your hands and sleep if you can.
"When wonder escapes you, I'm your friend.
And when the time you need is still hours away
You're all in a rush, harping at me in vain."

Father Me
03:30
|
|
||
Father me with your know how
And I'll return the love with lasting silence
Take on my weightless being
For all you know it's your own demise
Daughter her with your know how
And she'll return the love with deafening silence
Take on her fearless being
For all you know it's your own demise
Suddenly, we're all running for our dear lives
Reaching out, like the blind, for the world to appear once more
One of us looks back at the world from where we came
And we don't know if it'll ever be the same
